Tigers-Lanka 2nd Test starts today

The second Test between Bangladesh Cricket team and Sri Lanka Cricket team will start today at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo. The match will begin at 10:30am (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite channel Nagorik TV, private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live.

Earlier, the first Test match between the Tigers and the Islanders ended in a draw at Galle International Stadium in Sri Lanka on June 21. The two-match Test series between the hosts and the tourists is the part of ICC World Test Championship.

The motivated Bangladesh will play the second Test with a target of Test series victory as they dominated maximum time in the first Test match.

Captain of Bangladesh Cricket team hit back-to-back centuries in the recently concluded Galle Test and wrote his name in the history of cricket. He was the 15th batter in the world who scored back-to-back tons in a Test match.

Ace batter Mushfiqur Rahim also shone with the willow scoring 163 in the first innings and making 49 runs in the second innings.

Prolific batter Litton Das also got his form as he hit 90 in the first innings.

Prominent all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz could not take part in the first Test as he was suffering from fever. Miraz is totally fit and will play in the second Test. The spinners will get extra favour from the pitch of this ground.

Besides, Bangladesh achieved their only Test victory in Sri Lanka in Colombo. They earned a four-wicket victory against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2017. But the Tigers won that Test not in Sinhalese Sports Club Ground. They got the win in P Saravanamuttu International Cricket Stadium. The win will inspire the Tigers.

Najmul Hossain Shanto said, ” We know that Sri Lanka are tough side for us and our record is not good against them. But if we can present our best in the three departments (batting, bowling, fielding), we can beat any team in the world.”

Opener Anamul Haque Bijoy may be dropped from the squad as he failed to score in the first innings and scored just four in the second innings in the Galle Test.
