Bangladesh Cricket team will take on New Zealand Cricket team in their match of the ICC Champions Trophy today at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Pakistan. The match will start at 3:00pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). All the matches of ICC Champions Trophy are 50-over-a-side affairs.
Captain of the Tigers Najmul Hossain will lead his team, while Captain of the Kiwis Mitchell Santner will lead his team.
Private satellite sports channel T Sports and private satellite channel Nagorik TV will telecast the match live.
Before today’s match, Bangladesh and New Zealand faced each other in 45 ODI matches. Of them, The Tigers won in 11 matches, while the Kiwis posted 33 victories and one match ended without any result.
In the ICC Champions Trophy campaign, Bangladesh and New Zealand took part in two matches. The Tigers won one match, while the Kiwis won one game.
New Zealand won against Pakistan by 60 runs in the opening Group-A match at Karachi National Stadium in Pakistan on February 19.
On the other hand, Bangladesh lost to India by six wickets in their first Group-A match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the UAE on February 20. So, Bangladesh have to win the today’s match if they want to sustain in the tournament.
Experienced batter Mahmudullah Riyad got injury when he was taking part in the practice session ahead of the India match. Due to injury, Riyad could not play against India. An official of Bangladesh Cricket team, who is now staying with Bangladesh Cricket squad is hopeful that Mahmudullah Riyad will play in the Monday’s match. After scanning Riyad’s inured place, no serious report was found. So, the Team Management of Bangladesh Cricket squad is optimistic that Riyad will play for Bangladesh’s match.
Rest of the players of Bangladesh Cricket squad are now in good shape. So, the best team of Bangladesh will play against the Kiwis.
In-form batter Towhid Hridoy said, ” There is difference between the wickets and conditions of Dubai and Rawalpindi. We have a plan to play against our opponent. If we can execute our plans, we can earn a positive result.”
