After posting a resounding an innings and 47-run victory in the first Test by in-form Bangladesh against Ireland at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on November 14, the second Test between the Tigers and Ireland will start today at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur. The match will begin at 9:30am (Bangladesh Standard Time). Captain of Bangladesh Cricket team Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead his squad, while Captain of Ireland Cricket team Andrew Balbirnie will lead his side.
Private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match everyday before the second Test come to an end. This Test will be Mushfiqur Rahim’s 100th Test. Mushfiqur Rahim is the first Bangladeshi cricketer who is going to play the 100 Test matches.
Before today’s Test match, Bangladesh and Ireland faced each other in two Test matches. Of them, Bangladesh won all the games.
Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Phil Simmons said, ” Mushfiqur Rahim’s professionalism and eagerness to play for his country made him different among the other cricketers of the country. I shall be glad when he will touch the land-mark tomorrow. He has tried his best to prepare himself and fought for improve his performance and also showed positive approach to retain in international cricket. He has become this stage after showing his capability.”
Mushfiqur Rahim has been playing 20 years to reach this stage. The cause of this taking to much time as Bangladesh could not play enough Test matches.
Simmons said, ” Bangladesh usually cannot play more than 15 Test matches in a year. So, he has taken too much time as he going to touch the land-mark. He proved his ability. Mushfiqur Rahim has changed his style often and has added something in his career.”
Mushfiqur Rahim crossed 38-year of his age in last May. He already bade Good-bye to ODI cricket and T20I cricket. The West Indies-born Head Coach of Bangladesh said, ” Mushfiqur Rahim is one of the fit cricketer of my team. He hit century against Sri Lanka just before three matches. His performance is satisfactory.”
