BD-Pak 1st Test: Tigers fight back

Bangladesh National Cricket team fought back scoring 316 for the loss of five wickets on Day 3 play of the first Test cricket match against Pakistan National Cricket team at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi of Pakistan on Friday.

Earlier, Pakistan declared their first innings making 448 for the loss of six wickets on the second day (Thursday).
The Tigers trailed by 132 runs in the first innings.

Bangladesh resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 27. Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 12 and 11 runs respectively.

Zakir Hasan could add just one run on the third day as he was caught behind by wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan off Nasim Shah when Bangladesh’s score was 31 for the loss of one wicket.

After Zakir Hasan’s dismissal, one-down Najmul Hossain Shanto was failed to shine with the willow as he (16) was bowled out by Khurram Shahzad when the tourists’ total was 53 for the loss of two wickets.

After Najmul’s departure, Shadman Islam and second-down Mominul Haque repaired the damage contributing together 94 runs for the third wicket partnership before Mominul Haque was bowled out by Khurram Shahzad when the Tigers’ score was 147 for the loss of three wickets.

Mominul Haque hit an exact 50. His 76-ball innings was belted with five fours. It was Mominul Haque’s 19th Test half-century.

After Mominul Haque’s dismissal, Shadman Islam and third-down Mushfiqur Rahim put on together 52 runs in the fourth wicket stand before Shadman Islam was bowled out by Mohammad Ali when Bangladesh’s total was 199 for the loss of four wickets.

Shadman Islam was a victim of nervous ninety. He was deprived from a century for just seven runs. Shadman Islam notched up a sedate 93. His 183-ball innings was decorated with 12 fours. It was his third half-century in his Test career.

After Shadman’s departure, Shakib Al Hasan arrived at the crease but he failed to make a notable score as he (15) was caught at the extra cover by Shan Masood off Saim Ayub when the visitors’ score was 218 for the loss of five wickets.

After Shakib’s dismissal, Mushfiqur Rahim and fifth-down Litton Das rescued their team from damage contributing together 98 runs for the unbroken sixth wicket partnership before the two umpires pocketed the bails for the third day.

Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 55 runs, while Litton Das remained unbeaten with 52 runs.
Khurram Shahzad captured two wickets in the space of 47 runs, while Saim Ayub, Mohammad Ali and Naseem Shah took one wicket each conceding 23, 42 and 77 runs respectively.
