Tigers clinch T20I series 2-1 against Ireland

Bangladesh Cricket team clinched the three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series 2-1 against Ireland Cricket team after defeating Ireland by eight wickets in the third and final T20I at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram, the port city of the country on Tuesday.
Earlier, Ireland registered an easy 39-run victory over Bangladesh in the first T20I at the same venue on November 27.
Then, the Tigers posted a four-wicket win over Ireland in the second T20I at the same venue on November 29.
Chasing Ireland’s paltry total of 117 off 19.5 overs, the Tigers coasted home making 119 for the loss of two wickets when they had 38 balls to spare.
Bangladesh had an auspicious start as the two openers Tanzid Hasan and Saif Hassan put on together 38 runs in the opening stand before Saif Hassan (19) was caught at the mid-on by Mark Adair off Craig Young.
Litton Das (7) could stay at the crease for a short period as he was caught at the deep midwicket by Curtis Campher off Harry Tector when the hosts’ score was 46 for the loss of two wickets.
After Litton’s dismissal, Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon played the key role to reach the victory target scoring together 73 runs for the unbroken third wicket partnership before the game to an end.
Tanzid Hasan remained unbeaten with 55 runs. His 36-ball innings was studded with three sixes and four fours. Tanzid Hasan was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
It may be mentioned that Tanzid Hasan made a world record taking five catches in a T20I matches.
Parvez Hossain Emon remained unbeaten with 33. He hit three sixes and one four in his 26-ball knock.
Harry Tector and Craig Young took one wicket each giving 17 and 30 runs respectively.
Earlier, Paul Stirling was the only batter for Ireland who fought back against the tight, controlled and superb bowling attack of Bangladeshi bowlers.
Paul Stirling hit a captain’s knock of 38. His 27-ball innings was belted with five fours and a sixer.
Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman and left-arm spinner Rishad Hossain grabbed three wickets each giving 11 and 21 runs respectively, while left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam bagged two wickets at the cost of 21 runs.
Right-arm spinner Mahedi Hasan and right-arm pacer Mohammad Saifuddin picked up one wicket each instead of 24 and 31 runs respectively.
