After posting a thumping 68-run win over Afghanistan in the second ODI at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE on November 9, motivated Tigers will take on Afghanistan in the third and final ODI today at the same venue. The series-decider ODI will start at 4:00pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Captain of Bangladesh Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead his team, while Hashmatullah Shahidi will lead his side. Private satellite channel Nagorik Television and private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live.
Earlier, Afghanistan registered a massive 92-run victory over Bangladesh in the first ODI at the same venue on November 6.
Before today’s match, Bangladesh and Afghanistan faced each other in the 18 ODI matches. Of them, Bangladesh recorded 11 victories, while Afghanistan won rest of the seven games.
It is a good news that Najmul Hossain Shanto, Soumya Sarkar have come out from run drought. Najmul Hossain Shanto notched up 47 runs in the first ODI against Afghanistan and he hit a superb 76 in the second ODI against the same opponents. Soumy Sarkar made 33 in the first ODI against Afghanistan and he scored 35 runs in the second ODI against Afghanistan. Besides, debutante wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali remained unbeaten with 37 runs using just 27 deliveries and helped the Tigers to cross 250 against Afghanistan in the second ODI.
Besides, spinner Nasum Ahmed showed an all-rounder performance in his return to the ODI cricket. He scored 25 runs off 24 balls and captured three wickets instead of 28 runs.
The pacers of Bangladesh, specially Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman retained their consistency. Taskin grabbed four wickets at the cost of 53 runs in the first ODI and the right-arm pacer bagged two wickets in the space of 29 runs in the second ODI.
