‘Tiger Robi’ assaulted in India

Bangladesh National Cricket Team’s super fan, known as ‘Tiger Robi,’ was physically assaulted by Indian fans during Day 1 of the second Test match between Bangladesh and India at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, India, on Friday.

‘Tiger Robi’ is a well-known figure among Bangladesh’s cricket fans, regularly attending matches both at home and abroad to support the national team in Test matches, One Day Internationals, and Twenty20 Internationals.

Following the assault, Uttar Pradesh Police escorted Robi to a local hospital for medical treatment. The incident occurred when ‘Tiger Robi’ entered the inner gallery of the stadium to take shelter from the rain.

According to Robi, a verbal argument ensued with local fans, which escalated into a physical altercation.

He claimed that he was struck in the solar plexus during the confrontation, after which police intervened and took him to the hospital.

A police official stated, “We have Close Circuit Television (CCTV) footage from the gallery and will review it to determine what exactly transpired.”
