In a joint operation, three members of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) were killed in an exchange of fire with the Bangladesh Army in Debachhara area of Ruma upazila on Sunday.
The identities of the deceased could not be immediately confirmed.
The army recovered firearms, radio communication equipment, and ammunition from the spot, according to sources.
Confirming the incident, Bandarban’s Additional Superintendent of Police Hussain Md Rayhan Kajemi stated that the operation took place in a KNF hideout near Ronin Para of Ruma Upazila. “Three people were killed in the army-led joint operation,” he added.
Police and local sources reported that the joint forces raided the KNF hideout in the deep forest of Debachhra early this morning. Gunshots were heard for hours during the operation, and later, the bodies of three KNF members were recovered from the scene.
The Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) is an armed group active in the Chittagong Hill Tracts region.
