Three double-decker buses inaugurated at SUST

To reduce the suffering of the students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), three double-decker buses with 75 seats have been inaugurated. On Monday (August 4), Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. M. Sarwauddin Chowdhury inaugurated the buses in front of the Administrative Building-1 at noon.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sajedul Karim, Treasurer Professor Dr. Ismail Hossain, Transport Administrator Professor A. F. M. Zakaria and heads of departments of various departments and students.
In this regard, the Treasurer of the university, Professor Dr. Ismail Hossain said, ‘Students have been traveling to the campus with great difficulty for a long time due to the lack of sufficient buses for students. Many are traveling by public transport without getting a seat on the bus.
As a result, various risks including high expenditure have increased. He further said, considering all these problems of students, the current administration is contacting BIMC for the purchase of buses immediately after taking charge.
As part of this, BRTC has approved the rental of 39 buses until the new buses arrive. We hope that the transportation crisis of students will be eased through this new bus. ‘Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. M. Sarwaruddin Chowdhury said, ‘A long-standing demand of students was to solve the transportation problem. Currently, the journey of these three double-decker buses has started. As a result, the transportation problem of students will be solved. We will soon start the shuttle bus facility from the main gate to the hall.
For this, everyone’s cooperation is needed. ‘It is worth noting that on July 1, a letter signed by Mohammad Jaminur Rahman, Director of the Public University Management Department of UGC, approved three buses.
