Three vehicles—a private car and three buses—were set on fire by unidentified arsonists in Dhaka during the early hours of Tuesday, with incidents reported in Jatrabari, Uttara, and Bashundhara.
Rashed bin Khalid, a duty officer at the Fire Service control room, told Jago News that a 12:54 am report described a fire on a Rajdhani Transport bus parked in Rayerbag, Jatrabari. Fire service units arrived promptly and brought the blaze under control; the cause is not yet known.
Around 4:00 am, a separate fire was reported on a Raida Transport bus parked on Sonargaon Janapath Road in Uttara. Two fire units responded quickly and extinguished the fire.
At 2:07 am, another Raida Transport bus parked at Kajla Toll Plaza in Jatrabari was set ablaze by unknown individuals, and fire crews extinguished it. Around 2:35 am, a private car on 100 Feet Road in Bashundhara was torched by unidentified arsonists; authorities were alerted and the fire was controlled.
Earlier on Monday evening, about 7:30 pm, a moving bus from Shanta Mariam University caught fire in front of LabAid Hospital in Dhanmondi. Fire crews extinguished that blaze as well. Prior to that, two other buses had been set on fire in Merul Badda and Shahjadpur, contributing to the capital’s string of arson incidents.
