Thousands suffer for unpaved road in Hossainpur

Sr. Staff Reporter, Kishoreganj  :

Thousands of people in some villages of Hossainpur upazila of Kishoreganj have been suffering for years due to the nearly two-kilometer unpaved road.
With a little rain, this road becomes flooded with mud. Then, let alone bicycles, rickshaws, and autorickshaws, pedestrians cannot even walk. It sometimes becomes difficult to push light vehicles. Despite repeated demands, no initiative has been taken to pave this road.
This road begins at the entrance of Boaliarchar village in Gobindapur union of Hossionpur upazila; which merges with Aman Sarkar market, about two kilometers away. On Wednesday a visit to the village showed the suffering of the people.
Narrow unpaved roads from different neighborhoods merge at different places on this road. The condition of these roads is also pitiful. Driver Humayun was pushing an autorickshaw from an unpaved road with the help of another person. He said that this road in the village is very old. No initiative has ever been taken to pave or develop this road. They have sought the administration’s attention in this regard.
Local resident Sarwar Mohammad Himel came forward to talk to the media today. He is working as an officer of the education department in Kuliarchar of the district. Returnees Alauddin, Raihan Mia, auto-rickshaw driver Humayun, and Robin, who recently passed the SSC exam, came with him. All of them said that this road is the only means of communication for thousands of people in several villages of the village. Using this road, they have to travel to several schools as well as various areas including the district headquarters, Hossionpur headquarters , Aman Sarkar Bazar, Gangatia Bazar. The road is not suitable for use during the rainy season. Vehicles are far away, and even if you walk, you have to carry shoes in your hands. People often slip due to mud. When water accumulates, potholes are not visible. Then various vehicles also get into accidents.
Gobindpur UP Chairman Saidur Rahman acknowledged the suffering of the local people. He said that he will take initiatives to improve the road if the allocation for development is received”
