Though single train runs a day, BR spends around Tk 2000cr to build railway

To fulfill the dreams of the people of Pabna, a new railway was constructed from Ishwardi to Dhallarchar via Pabna. Bangladesh Railway (BR) has spent more than 1 thousand 714 crore taka for the construction of about 79 km long railway. The main objective of constructing the Ishwardi-Dhalarchar railway line was to increase railway revenue. Expansion of trade and industry in the respective areas, establishment of northern and southern connectivity with the capital, establishment of new and alternative rail routes of Trans Asian Railway and Regional Connectivity. Only one train a day is running on this railway, built at a huge cost. The train runs six days a week.
It is known that after independence in 1974, the government took up the Ishwardi-Dhalarchar railway project to implement the long-standing demand of Pabna residents. At that time, land was acquired for the railway from Ishwardi to Nagarbari via Pabna. After seventy-five, the project was closed. On October 5, 2010, the National Economic Council Executive Committee (ECNEC) meeting approved the project titled ‘Construction of a new line from Ishwardi. t
