The 46th founding anniversary of The New Nation, the oldest English daily in Bangladesh, will be celebrated today, marking nearly five decades of commitment to truth, democracy, and independent journalism.
Since its inception, The New Nation has earned a reputation for providing readers with accurate and fearless reporting, never compromising with any power. The newspaper stood as the only independent English daily in Dhaka city, becoming a vital platform for airing public opinion and grievances.

Over the years, this daily has been enriched by the contributions of some of the legendary figures in Bangladesh journalism — including the late Hasan Sayeed, Mahbubul Alam, Amanullah Kabir, ABM Musa, Alamgir Mohiuddin, Enamul Huq, Fazle Rasheed, and Moazzem Hossain — alongside many talented young professionals who went on to achieve distinction in the media world.

Throughout its long journey, The New Nation has also introduced several successful innovations in the country’s newspaper industry. Although the paper has never claimed to be the best in Bangladesh, its dedication to democracy, constitutionalism, human rights, good governance, and journalistic objectivity remains unwavering.

Since inception, The New Nation continues to uphold its founding spirit — serving as a steadfast voice of the people and a guardian of truth in Bangladesh’s media landscape.
