The Blood Moon eclipse will be visible over Bangladesh on September 7, 2025.
According to a press release issued by Bangladesh’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), this spectacular phenomenon will be observable from start to finish across Bangladesh, provided the skies remain clear.
The moon will enter penumbra at 9:27pm (Bangladesh Time) and enter totality at 11:30pm on September 7 while leave penumbra at 2:56am on September 8. The sighting will begin at 9:27 pm in Dhaka division and Mymensingh, 9:20pm at Chattogram, 9:21pm at Sylhet, 9:29pm at Khulna, 9:26pm at Barishal, 9:34pm at Rajshahi and 9:33pm at Rangpur division, the release added.
Known as a Blood Moon due to the reddish hue the moon takes on during totality, this striking color results from sunlight filtering through Earth’s atmosphere, scattering shorter wavelengths like blue while allowing red light to pass through and cast an eerie glow on the lunar surface.
This total lunar eclipse is thus not just a visual delight but a demonstration of the beautiful interplay between celestial bodies and atmospheric conditions.
From various regions of Bangladesh, including Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Khulna, Barishal, Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Mymensingh divisions, skies will darken as the moon undergoes its gradual transformation.
