The melody of the Holy Qur’an sounded in the tender voice of the young Hafez (memorizer of the holy Quran). Sylhet and Mymensingh became illuminated with the light of fresh heavenly faces as soon as the morning light broke on Thursday. With this, the Hefzul Quran competition ‘Noor of the Quran – Powered by Bashundhara’ started.
The mega reality show has been organized by Baitul Mukarram Jatiya Masjid Musalli Committee in collaboration with Bashundhara Group, the country’s top industry group. It was officially inaugurated on Thursday morning with preliminary qualifiers in two categories simultaneously, said a press release.
A total of 60 people got a ‘Yes Card’ in both types, 30 people each from Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
Under-15, Full (30 Para) Hafez from different Madrasahs across the country are participating in this competition. The initiative was taken as part of honouring Hafez of the country and the final phase will be held in the next month of Ramadan.
Some Tk 10 lakhs will be given to the champion in the competition. Apart from this, the second prize winner will be given Tk seven lakh and the third prize of Tk five lakh, while the fourth and fifth prize winners will be given taka two lakh each. The remaining 5 top 10 will also get cash prizes and honours.
Auditions will be held in other divisional cities of the country and two regions of the Dhaka division. Among these, the audition round will be held on February 11 in Meghna (Comilla) and Chittagong divisions. The audition round will be held in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions on February 14. Auditions will be held in Khulna and Faridpur (Padma) on February 18, and in Barisal, the audition will be held on February 20. The Dhaka North and South audition round will be held on February 22 and 23, respectively.
