Teletalk Bangladesh Limited has announced a reduction in the prices of its data packages, which will take effect from Eid day. The decision follows a recent move by Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited to lower its bandwidth rental charges by 10 percent, as part of a government directive. In response, Teletalk is passing on this benefit to its customers by reducing the prices of most of its existing data packages by the same margin. This price adjustment will remain in effect until further notice.
According to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, this initiative aims to increase the number of mobile data users across the country. The ministry also highlighted Teletalk’s ongoing efforts to expand its network coverage in remote areas, including haor regions and islands, ensuring better connectivity for underserved communities.
Additionally, plans are underway to enhance the country’s digital infrastructure with the expansion of 4G services and the introduction of 5G technology. Officials believe that this reduction in data costs will play a crucial role in boosting digital access, particularly in key sectors such as education, healthcare, e-governance, and e-commerce. With lower internet costs, more people are expected to benefit from online services, contributing to Bangladesh’s digital transformation.
