Teletalk network improves in tourist areas

Faiz Tayeb Ahmed, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, has ordered the improvement of Teletalk’s network in Sylhet’s tourist areas.
He gave this information in a post on Facebook on Sunday.

He said that Bangladesh Telecommunication Company Limited (BTCL) has launched free WiFi and free telephone services at Sylhet Osmani International Airport. Although the service was initially launched with a throughput of 40 Mbps, it has been promised to be increased to 100 Mbps within a month. After the inauguration of the service, a meeting was also held in Sylhet in the morning with Teletalk, BTCL, Postal Department, Hi-Tech Park and ICT officials.

He said that instructions were given on several issues in the meeting. These include ensuring improved coverage of Teletalk in tourist areas, quickly repairing the fiber network if it is cut, keeping the post office regularly operational and providing parcel services properly.

At the same time, emphasis was placed on training on cyber security, fake information and IT skills in government offices and educational institutions. Central Logistics Tracking Platform (CLTP) training for postal officials was also discussed.

Civil society, social organizations, media and political leaders of Sylhet participated in the exchange meeting organized at this time. Former BNP mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Sylhet district BNP president Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury and local leaders of BNP, Jamaat, Islami Oikyajot and NCP were present at the meeting.
