Eid joy turned into sadness for a teenager. He died while visiting the Jaflong tourist center in Sylhet. The unfortunate teenager’s name is Nayan Mia (13). He died by drowning, Gowanghat Police Station has confirmed the news.
His body was recovered from the Zero Point area of the Piain River in Jaflong at 4:30 pm today, Monday (March 31). He is the son of Phul Mia of Shamargaon in Nabiganj Upazila of Habiganj.
According to local sources, Nayan Mia went to the Jaflong tourist center in Sylhet with some friends today to celebrate Eid. At one point, Nayan and his friends went to bathe in the river adjacent to the Zero Point area of Jaflong. But he lost his balance due to the pull of the river current and drowned in the water. Later, his companions and locals rescued him and took him to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Gowainghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sarkar Tofail Ahmed said, “The body of a tourist who drowned while visiting Jaflong has been recovered. The body of the deceased will be handed over to the family after the legal process is completed.”
