The Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) campus transformed into a hub of youthful innovation yesterday as ICT Olympiad Bangladesh’s (ICTOB) Season 2 culminated in a grand finale that showcased the nation’s brightest tech talents. After months of intense competition that saw 10,000 applicants from every corner of the country, the final 290 contenders battled through a comprehensive assessment comprising written examinations, practical demonstrations, and rigorous viva voce sessions.
The ceremony, skillfully hosted by popular emcees Dr. Trina Islam and Md. Solaiman Ahmed Jisan, began with a soulful rendition of the national anthem, setting the tone for an event that brought together students from schools, colleges, and universities across Bangladesh. The Olympiad’s core mission to enhance digital literacy, foster problem-solving abilities, stimulate innovation, and popularize ICT education among youth was evident throughout the proceedings, says a press release.
Professor Dr. A.B.M. Shakhawat Ali, Vice Chancellor of BUBT and chief guest of the event, emphasized the critical role of such initiatives in achieving the government’s digital vision. “What we witness here today is more than a competition – it’s the birth of Bangladesh’s next generation of digital architects,” he stated, drawing connections between the Olympiad and national ICT development projects. The audience included an impressive gathering of advisory board members, jury panelists, representatives from leading government and private institutions, educational leaders, tech entrepreneurs, and industry experts.
