‘Teaching alone not enough, research key to progress’

Rangpur’s Begum Rokeya University (BRUR) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali said that a teacher cannot complete his duty by just teaching; the nation must be taken forward through knowledge acquisition and innovation. If the quality of research improves, the university’s position will also be strengthened in the international arena.

He also said that the current government is giving utmost importance to improving the quality of higher education and research. Therefore, through this workshop, teachers will acquire new knowledge in the research process and methodological aspects and it will be reflected in the students.

The Vice Chancellor said these things on the first day of the two-day ‘Workshop on Research Methodologies for Faculty’ organized by IQAC on Wednesday (September 10) morning.

The university’s IQAC Director Professor Dr. Md. Tajul Islam presided over the workshop, where the keynote address on research proposal was presented by Professor Dr. Mohammad Amir Hossain Bhuiyan, Department of Environmental Sciences, Jahangirnagar University. He discussed in detail the different research methods, data collection, analysis and ways to use the research results in policy formulation.

Teachers from different departments of Begum Rokeya University participated in the workshop. At that time, Additional Director of Berobi IQAC Dr. Md. Abdul Latif and Dr. Md. AbdurRakib were present.
