Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed’s International League (IL) T20 mission came to an end. The two faced each other in their last match on Wednesday.

While Mustafiz had the last laugh, he also bowled relatively well. Taskin’s Sharjah Warriors set a target of 135 runs, which was surpassed by Fiji’s Dubai Capitals in 5 balls and 6 overs.

Batting first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sharjah scored 134 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Although they started well against them, Mustafiz bowled poorly later. However, in the end, he gave away 29 runs for 1 wicket in 4 overs.

His bowling figures could have been better if he had not given away 12 runs in the last over. On the other hand, Taskin took 1 wicket for the same amount of runs, but bowled 3.1 overs.

However, Sharjah got the momentum to win the match in the 18th over of Taskin’s innings.

He returned Lewis du Ploy for just 5 runs. But the opportunity he brought was ruined in the next over due to the cost of 18 runs by Tim Southee.

As a result, in the 20th over, Taskin conceded six off Rovman Powell, which confirmed Sharjah’s defeat.

Johnson Charles, who batted first, scored the highest 43 runs for Sharjah. However, his batting was slow, this Caribbean batter played 46 balls.

In addition, Monank Patel made 24 off 13 balls and Adil Rashid and Harmeet Singh made 14 runs each, taking Sharjah’s total to 134 runs in 20 overs.

On the other hand, David Willey and Mohammad Nabi took one wicket each for Dubai, apart from Mustafiz. However, Haider Ali and Waqar Salamkhil took the maximum 2 wickets each.

Chasing the target, Sediqullah Atal returned for 7 runs, but Shayan Jahangir and Jordan Cox paved the way for victory.

Shayan was dismissed for 51 runs (6 fours and 1 six) off 39 balls, but Cox was finally unbeaten on 61 runs (6 fours and 1 six) off 50 balls.

Although Taskin gave Dubai a push towards the end, the momentum changed in the Southee’s over. With 5 balls remaining, they secured a 6-wicket victory.

Taskin and Harmeet Singh took one wicket each for Sharjah. Sikandar Raja took 2 wickets for just 15 runs in 4 overs.

Dubai Capitals secured the play-offs from third place with 10 points after their fifth win in 9 matches. Sharjah is at the bottom of the table (6th place) with 6 points.
