BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has called upon party leaders and activists to remain vigilant against any conspiracies that could undermine voters’ rights in the upcoming national election.
Speaking virtually from London during the biennial council of the Patuakhali district BNP on Wednesday, Tarique stressed that “around 12.5 crore voters must be allowed to freely express their will through the ballot.” He warned of ongoing whispers and rumours suggesting potential efforts to obstruct the electoral process.
“As followers of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia, we must be alert nationwide. Our movement has seen sacrifices—leaders and activists have endured torture, persecution, and even death for the right to vote. We cannot allow that right to be threatened,” he said.
Tarique also urged all members to act responsibly and avoid activities that could damage the party’s public image. “If any member engages in actions that upset the public, the entire party suffers,” he cautioned, directing everyone to uphold good conduct and earn the public’s trust.
He emphasized that protecting BNP’s reputation is a collective responsibility: “Those who harm the party’s image must not be shielded. Every leader and activist must work to strengthen democracy and the party’s integrity.”
