BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Saturday expressed deep concern over the fire that broke out at the Cargo Village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka.
In a statement posted on his verified Facebook page, he said, “I am deeply concerned about the fire incident at the Cargo Village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected, and I sincerely hope everyone remains safe.”
He also praised the prompt efforts of the emergency responders, saying, “I commend the members of the Fire Service, Armed Forces, and other agencies who acted swiftly and courageously to contain the fire, demonstrating their genuine commitment to public service.”
Calling for a thorough inquiry into the recent series of fire incidents across the country, Tarique Rahman added, “A comprehensive and transparent investigation is essential to identify the causes of these incidents and to strengthen public safety measures in the future – especially in light of the alarming increase in such occurrences, including the major fires at the factory in the Chattogram Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) and a garments factory in Mirpur.”
