BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Tuesday urged the young generation to step forward with courage and integrity, steering clear of revenge and hostility, to unlock the nation’s future potential for prosperity.

“If you advance with courage and honesty, avoiding the path of vengeance and rivalry, I believe all avenues of opportunity will open for the prosperity of future Bangladesh,” he said, addressing young people during a virtual discussion in Dhaka.

He emphasised that the country’s greatest asset and the key driver of its future success is its population.

The discussion, titled “Future Bangladesh: Expectations of Youth Society and BNP’s Plans”, was jointly organised by Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Swechchasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre to mark International Youth Day.

Tarique said the people of Bangladesh now yearn for a departure from traditional politics. “Public aspirations-spoken of by nearly all political parties-are not realised through promises alone, but through the fulfilment of those promises, which BNP is committed to,” he noted.

He added that this is why he has outlined sector-wise plans for the party, and that strategies are now being developed to ensure their implementation.

Calling on youths to present BNP’s people-focused plans to the wider public, Tarique said, “If the people entrust BNP with the responsibility to govern, Inshallah, we will implement these plans step by step.” He also appealed to citizens from all walks of life, including the youth, to vote for the Sheaf of Paddy, BNP’s electoral symbol.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, BNP Student Affairs Secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul, Jubo Dal President Abdul Monayem Munna, Swechchasebak Dal General Secretary Rajib Ahsan, JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib, Ganosamhati Andolon Chief Coordinator Junaid Saki, NDM Chairman Bobby Hajjaj, playwright and July Revolution veteran Mabrur Rashid Bannah, Dhaka University’s visually impaired student Md Tafsar Ullah, journalists Mukatadir Rashid Romeo and Shariful Islam Khan, among others, also spoke at the event, which was presided over by Swechchasebak Dal President SM Jillani.
