Tarique pledges building inclusive Bangladesh
Staff Reporter :
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has pledged to build a safe and inclusive Bangladesh by upholding the rights and dignity of all communities across the country.
“BNP envisions the nation as a ‘rainbow,’ where every community strengthens unity through diversity. Our commitment is to ensure an inclusive Bangladesh where all people can live together in harmony,” he said while virtually addressing a national conference of ethnic minority representatives in Mymensingh on Saturday.
Tarique reaffirmed that BNP is determined to protect the rights of people in both the hills and the plains, while preserving their languages, cultures, and traditions.
He outlined BNP’s plans, which include ensuring representation of qualified individuals from minority groups in parliament and party committees, establishing cultural research institutes for ethnic communities, granting the Tribal Welfare Association trust status, expanding access to technical education and training both at home and abroad, and providing easy loan facilities for women entrepreneurs.
Urging ethnic communities to remain engaged in education, employment, and democratic participation, Tarique said only awareness and active involvement can shield them from forces of division.
He also criticised the existing quota system in government jobs, describing the recruitment process for plain land minorities as unnecessarily complicated and time-consuming. “If elected, BNP will simplify this process to ensure fairness and accessibility,” he assured.
Calling upon ethnic communities to join hands with BNP ahead of the February national elections, Tarique pledged to implement the party’s roadmap for building an inclusive Bangladesh.
