Promising opener Tanzid Hasan of Bangladesh made world record taking five catches in a Twenty20 International (T20I) match. Tanzid is the only fielder of a Test playing country who bagged five catches in a T20I match. He earned this feat against Ireland in the third T20I match at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram on Tuesday.
Tanzid Hasan started his campaign after taking a catch of Gareth Delany at the backward point from a delivery of Rishad Hossain.
Tanzid Hasan captured his second victim after receiving the catch of Mark Adair at the long-on from a delivery of Mustafizur Rahman.
Tanzid’s third victim was Mathew Humphreys’ who was caught at the long-on from a delivery off Mustafizur Rahman.
George Dockrell was caught at the long-off by Tanzid Hasan from a delivery of Shoriful Islam and it was Tanzid Hasan’s fourth catch.
Tanzid fulfilled his fifth victim after taking a catch of Ben White off Mohammad Saifuddin and made world record.
Earlier, Sedik Sahak of Sweden and Wadega Malinda of Maldives took five catches each in their respective one T20I match. But Sweden and Maldives are not Test playing countries. So, Tanzid Hasan Tamim is the only fielder, who is playing for Bangladesh, which have Test status.
