There are 30 unprotected rail crossings in Tangail. Unprotected railcrossing has no gate man. The locals have to move with panic because there is no gateman.
There are 46 railcrossing from the Ibrahimabad railway station to the Mirzapur railway station adjacent to the Jamuna River. Of them, 30 are unprotected rail crossings.
According to railway sources, there are 19 railcrossing from Ibrahimabad railway station in Kalihati upazila adjacent to the Jamuna river in Tangail to Gharinda railway station in Sadar upazila. Of these, there are 6 protected Gateman. There is no gateman in the remaining 13 unprotected railcrossing.
From Gharinda railway station in Tangail Sadar upazila to Mahera railway station in Mirzapur, there are 18 railcrossing. No getman 12 unprotected crossings.
From Mahera Railway Station to Mirzapur Upazila Railway Station, 4 out of 9 railcrossing and 5 is unprotected.
The procession of accidents in unprotected railcrossing from Ibrahimabad to Mirzapur is increasing day by day. Often casualties are in panic.
According to rail police sources, five people have died in unprotected railcrossing from Ibrahimabad to Mirzapur in Tangail since January this year.
In addition, three people, including parents, were killed in a train in the Analiyabari area of Kalihati in the district on February 2. The accident stirred the country. The death toll in the train accident that year stood at 20. In 2021, 5 people died in a train accident in Tangail district.
Upon visiting the ground, it is seen that there is an unprotected railgate in Tenguriapara on the Delduar-Basile road in Tangail. On the two sides of the railway there are two speedbreakers in large and thick. The road is almost covered in locals on the two sides of the gate and the tree trunk. There is no way to understand when the train arrives from one end to the other because of the clutter. There is also a small shop next to the unprotected railcrossing.
Abdul Waresh Mia, a shopkeeper next to the railcrossing, said that about two thousand vehicles cross the railcrossing every day and drive on the road. In addition, students and locals of the two educational institutions of the two sides of the railcrossing are crossing. He has been shoping for about 3 years next to the railcrossing. Often he left the shop and served as the Gateman in the public interest railcrossing.
Assistant Teacher Mehdi Hasan of Tenguriapara Dakhil Madrasa said there are several educational institutions in the vast area of Tanguriapara in Basil upazila of Tangail. Among them are Habla-Tanguriapara Fazil Madrasa, Tenguriapara Government Primary School, Abdullah Kafi Al Qarashi Darul Hadith Academy, Abdul Hai Hafizia Madrasa, Abdullah Bakh High School, Habla Chhalafia Girls Dakhil Madrasa. Students and parents of several institutions, including these educational institutions, travel by the road. Students, parents and teachers are terrified because of the unprotected railcrossing.
Railway employee Rubel Mia said he was looking after the railway line 5 km from Tenguriapara of Habla Union in Basil. He has three important unprotected railcrossing in six kilometers in charge. They are located in Tanguriapara, Patkhaguri and Sonalia in Basil.
Assistant Master of Mahera Railway Station in Mirzapur Upazila of Tangail, Rakibul Hasan said there were 30 unprotected railway from Ibrahimabad railway station in Tangail to Mirzapur railway station in Tangail. The railway is expected to work on the double line soon. If the double line work, these unprotected railcrossing will be covered.
Assistant Station Master of Gharinda Railway Station in Tangail Touhidur Rahman said the railway authorities will work on the unprotected railcrossing from Ibrahimabad to Mirzapur.
