Tangail District Administration has taken a unique initiative to create awareness among prisoners detained in drug-related cases, aiming to build a drug-free society.
On Wednesday morning, August 20, an anti-drug awareness session was organized inside the Tangail District Jail. Inmates were sensitized about the harmful effects of drug abuse through discussions and a documentary screening.
Deputy Commissioner of Tangail, Sharifa Haque, attended the event as the chief guest. Other dignitaries present included:
- Md. Mahbub Hasan, Additional District Magistrate
- H.M. Mahbub Rezwan Siddiquee, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle)
- Md. Shahidul Islam, Jail Superintendent
- Mukul Jyoti Chakma, Deputy Director, Department of Narcotics Control (Tangail)
- Md. Touhidul Islam, Deputy Director, Department of Social Services
At the end of the session, the inmates took an anti-drug oath, pledging to abstain from drug use and contribute to building a healthier society upon their release.
