BSS, Dhaka :
Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal and ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan hit form just ahead of the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies as they struck half-century in the second and last warm-up game of the preliminary squad, which split into two teams at BKSP on Saturday.
Tamim who led Tamim XI hammered a run-a-ball 80, clattering five fours and three sixes, led his side’s eight-wicket victory over Mehidy Hasan Miraz-led Mahmudullah XI with this vital knock.
Miraz was named captain as Mahmudullah Riyad who scored a match winning 51 not out in the first practice game didn’t play the match.
Shakib who played for Mahmudullah XI made 52 off 82 with one four and one six after a prolonged bad patch.
Alongside Shakib, opener Naim Sheikh also hit 50 as Mahmudullah XI put up 223-7 in 45 overs. Mosaddek Hossain Saikat scored 31 while Mushfiqur Rahim contributed 25. Yasir Ali made 24.
Saifuddin and Mahedi Hasan grabbed two wickets apiece while Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain and Nasum Ahmed bagged one wicket each.
Tamim and Liton Das added 77 runs for the opening stand to make the things easier for the side. Liton was dismissed after making 53 ball-48, hitting nine boundaries.
Tamim withdrew himself after clobbering 80 to give other batsmen a chance to bat. Nazmul Hossain Shanto contributed in victory with 51 ball-67 that featured seven fours and two sixes as Tamim XI reached the winning mark in just 35.2 overs.
Coming back to cricket from injury, Taskin Ahmed took one wicket while Hasan Mahmud also picked up one.
