Bangladeshi cricketer Tamim Iqbal has regained consciousness after suffering a severe heart attack during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match on Monday.
Doctors diagnosed cricketer Tamim Iqbal with two blockages in his heart, leading to an urgent angiogram and the placement of a stent. He is currently under close observation in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at KPJ Specialised Hospital and Nursing College.
Cricket Operations Manager Shahriar Nafees provided an update via his official Facebook account, stating, “Tamim Iqbal has regained consciousness and is under observation in the CCU. Please keep him in your prayers.”
The alarming incident occurred during the eighth-round Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match at BKSP Ground No 3, where Tamim was representing Mohammedan Sporting Club against Shinepukur Cricket Club. He collapsed on the field, prompting immediate medical attention from teammates and staff.
Initially, authorities arranged a helicopter for his transport, but due to the severity of his condition, he was instead rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
