Fortune Barishal skipper Tamim Iqbal has been handed one demerit point and a warning for breaching Level 1 Article 2.6 of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s fifth match against Rangpur Riders on Thursday.
Match referee Neeyamur Rashid Rahul confirmed the decision on Friday morning.
Tamim accepted the charges, eliminating the need for a formal hearing as he did not contest the sanction.
Following the match between Barishal and Rangpur at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, a heated verbal exchange occurred between Tamim Iqbal and Rangpur’s English batter Alex Hales.
Tamim appeared to be the more aggressive party during the confrontation, though Hales also seemed to have responded with remarks of his own.
