Veteran Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad will have a chance to warm up with a practice match ahead of the upcoming New Zealand series in the last week of September.
The duo was out of the national team setup for a long time as for Mahmudullah being dropped from the squad since the Ireland series and Tamim has been struggling with injury and a retirement saga since the Afghanistan series at home.
However, they have an opportunity to play in the warm games between the Bangladesh Tigers and the Asian Games squad in Chittagong.
Apart from Tamim-Mahmudullah, Taijul Islam, Soumya Sarkar, and Nurul Hasan Sohan will also participate in the matches which will be mainly played to prepare for the upcoming Asian Games.
“Tamim-Mahmudullah and some play can play in Chattogram.
We will finalize the matter today.
But Tamim’s issue completely depends on his fitness,” BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu said.
Tamim is not yet a complete fit but he is expected to play at least one match during practice matches.
About Tamim’s current condition, BCB doctor Debashish Chowdhury said, ‘Tamim is batting well.
But still did not run on the wicket, as well as fielding.
BCB informed us about his game in Chattogram, we will take action accordingly,”
