Former captain of Bangladesh National Cricket team and former opener of Bangladesh National Cricket team Tamim Iqbal will give financial assistance to Gulshan Club, which will take part in the upcoming Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket.
There is a rumour that Tamim Iqbal will be a director of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) like his uncle Akram Khan. Even there is a rumour that he is going to be the president of Bangladesh Cricket Board.
But there is now a new rumour that he will be a councillor of Gulshan Club.
Tamim Iqbal said to a local website, ” Actually it is not yet confirmed that I will be a councillor of Gulshan Club. I want to give financial support to Gulshan Club. Mizanur Rahman (Franchise of Fortune Barishal) and I want to play a role in the financial assistance of Gulshan Club. I am not thinking about the councillorship just now. We want to give financial assistance to Gulshan Club.”
It may be mentioned that former captain of Bangladesh National Cricket team former director of BCB Khaled Mahmud Mahmud Sujon resigned from the post of head coach of Dhaka Abahani Limited. Sujon acted as coach of Dhaka Abahani Limited for a long period. He joined the Gulshan Club as Head Coach.
Sujon said to a local website, ” We didn’t sell Gulshan Club. We are searching financer for Gulshan Club. Tamim is such kind of financer.”
Sujon also said, ” I know Tamim Iqbal has a quality to help those persons or clubs which are seeking help. So, I contacted with Tamim. I said to Tamim to advance to give financial assistance to Gulshan Club. Tamim agreed with him. Mizanur Rahman also joined him. Tamim and Mizanur Rahman are financer.”
“Mizanur Rahman will be the President of Gulshan Club. After retirement of Bangladesh National Cricket team, Tamim Iqbal has played in the domestic cricket competitions. He played for Fortune Barishal in BPL Cricket recently. He will also play in DPL Cricket. So, there is a little chance for him to be the councillor of Gulshan Club,” he added.
