Talented cultural activists to get Covid-19 vaccine on priority basis: Khalid

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid said that talented cultural activists of the country will get the coronavirus vaccine on priority basis, if the vaccine (the first stage) comes in the country.
“We have lost many talented artists, writers and cultural activists in the arena of culture. These talented and creative people are the heart of the country and the nation. They help the nation move forward with the right direction amid problems, crises and possibilities. In the first stage of getting corona vaccine in the country, priority will be given to these talented cultural workers,” he said.
The state minister said this on Saturday while speaking at a function of Bangladesh Cultural Reporters Association (BCRA) at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy here on the occasion of its 25th anniversary of the establishment.
Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Md Fazle Rabbi Miah also spoke online there.
Khalid said the present government is working sincerely for the welfare of the artists.
To this end, ‘Shilpi Kalyan Trust’ has been set up in the Ministry of Cultural Affairs with a special grant from the Prime Minister, he said, adding that on the other hand, the Ministry of Information has set up a Film Artists’ Welfare Trust for film artists.
BCRA President Avi Chowdhury presided over the function.
