Tajul, Ahmad, Sohail arrested

Former State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Captain (retd) AB Tajul Islam, Chattogram port’s former chairman rear admiral Mohammad Sohail and Awami League organising secretary Ahmad Hossain were arrested from different parts of the capital.

According to Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) police, Tajul was arrested from Gulshan, Sohail from Banani and Ahmad Hossain was arrested from Banasree on Tuesday night.

Later, they were taken to the DB office.
After that Tajul Islam has been placed on a 9-day remand in connection with the murder case of Chhatra Dal leader Nayan.

Brahmanbaria Chief Judicial Magistrate Court granted the remand on Wednesday afternoon.
Tajul Islam was presented before the court by Detective Branch (DB) of police in the afternoon while SI Sohel Ahmed of the district DB police requested a 10-day remand for thorough investigation of the case.

Meanwhile a Dhaka court placed two people, including Awami League organising secretary Ahmad Hossain, on a four-day remand in a case filed over the killing of a shop owner, Nabin Talukder, in Dhaka’s Paltan on July 19.
The other accused is former Chattogram Port Authority chairman Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jashim passed the order after investigation officer of the case Nazmul Hasan, a sub-inspector at Paltan Model Police Station, produced them before the court with a 10-day remand prayer. The IO, in the remand prayer, said Ahmad was the mastermind and instigator, while Sohail employed different forces and used digital devices to tackle protestors on July 19, which led to Nabin’s death.
