Shahjahan Khan sues Inqilab Editor

Presidium member of ruling Awami League and former Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan yesterday sued the Daily Inqilab Editor AMM Bahauddin and another person on the charge of defamation.
The other accused is Abdul Quader, Director of Quaderia Publications and Products Limited. The case was filed under the sections 109/501/502/34 of the Penal Code Sunday with the court Dhaka’s Magistrate Abu Sayeed.
In the complaint, Shahjahan Khan said, on July 26, Immigration Officers at Shahjalal International Airport
barred his daughter Oaishe Khan from boarding a London-bound flight after she showed a Covid-19 negative report, but the result was reportedly found positive after online checking.
The next day in a Press Conference, National Institute of Laboratory Medicine and Referral Centre Director Prof Dr Abul Khayer Mohammad Shamsuzzaman said Oaishe Khan was mistakenly given the negative Covid-19 report.
Despite Abul Khayer’s admission of the mistake, AMM Bahauddin on July 28 published a report in his daily newspaper regarding Shahjahan’s daughter Oaishe Khan’s Covid-19 report.
Shahjahan Khan alleged that the report defamed him and his daughter.
