A new mass hunger strike and sit-in programme has been added to the strike program called by the Sylhet District Stone Related Business Owners and Workers Oikya Parishad.
As part of this, a mass hunger strike and sit-in program was held at Dhupagol Shaheed Minar in Sadar Upazila of Sylhet on Monday, June 30 from morning to 2 pm.
The mass hunger strike and sit-in program was held to demand the withdrawal of the suspension order on the lease of all stone quarries in Sylhet, the harassment of truck workers, and the return of business opportunities and electricity meters to all crusher owners.
Md. Nazir Ahmed Swapan, acting president of Sylhet District Truck Owners Group and member secretary of Sylhet District Stone Related Business Owners Workers Unity Council, addressed the hunger strike and sit-in program as the chief guest, chaired by Md. Montaz Ali, president of Sylhet Sadar Pathar Stone Crusher Owners Cooperative Association, and directed by businessman and BNP leader Abdul Haque. The special guests were Mujibur Rahman Mujib, Vice President of Sylhet District Truck Pickup Owners Group, Vice President Narayan Purkayastha Foni, President of Sylhet Sadar Goods Transport Owners Association and President of Ward 5 Jamaat Islami Muhibur Rahman Suleman, Sylhet Sadar Upazila BNP member Mamun Al Rashid Helal, Vice President of Sylhet Sadar Pathar Stone Crusher and Sand Traders Owners Association Shanur Mia,Sylhet District Jubo Dal Deputy General Secretary Abu Sayeed Shahin, Businessman and Ward 5 Member of Fategarh Union Parishad No. 6 Kamrul Islam, President of Airport Thana Truck Pickup Covered Van Workers Union Abdul Ahad and General Secretary Raju Ahmed, General Secretary of Salutikar Ghat Pathar Owners Association Morshed Alam, Sylhet District Jubo Dal Deputy Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Rehan Ahmed Kamran, District Jubo Dal Leader Hafizur Rahman, Ani Mia, Shamim Ahmed, Businessman and Present on behalf of the local people were Kamal Mia, Abdul Ahad, Sonafar Ali, Ishraq Ali, Haris Uddin, Akhter Hossain, Shah Jamal, Sebul Ahmed, Mansur Ahmed, Kawsar Mia, Ataur Rahman, Jitu Mia, Habib Mia, Mamun Mia, Raja Mia also attend the strike.
