A meeting to exchange views on the issues to be addressed in bringing the fallow land of the division under cultivation has been held in Sylhet On Saturday afternoon,
Sylhet Region Agricultural Development Project (1st Revised) through Modern Technology and the Department of Agricultural Extension, Dhaka, organized a meeting of views at a prestigious hotel in the city.
Divisional Commissioner of Sylhet, Khan Md. Reza-un-Nabi attend the Meeting as a chief guest.
In his speech, he said that the agricultural sector is the beacon of development. It has the untapped potential of the nation.
National development is accelerated through agricultural development. The use of all technologies in the agricultural sector must be ensured to build a prosperous country and nation of the future. We all need the combined efforts of all to move this country, our beloved Bangladesh, forward. To become self-sufficient in food, crop production must be increased in the country, and the population must be transformed into a public asset.
He said, in order to bring arable and fallow land under cultivation in Sylhet region, crop production and crop density should be increased by identifying the problems. Short-term, medium-term and long-term plans should be taken for the development of irrigation management and production of potential crops. The current government has given top priority to agriculture and has given instructions to implement development project activities in all departments. Sylhet region has a food surplus and mechanization has brought a revolution in agriculture in Sylhet region. He called on everyone to continue this trend.
