Sylhet marks workshop on noise pollution

A workshop on what students should do to control noise pollution was held in the conference room of the Sylhet divisional commissioner’s office on Monday, said a press release.
In order to organise the coordinated and partnership project to control noise pollution being implemented by the Department of Environment, the workshop in Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Abu Ahmed Siddique was present as chief guest at the workshop.
MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital’s head of nose, ear, throat department, Dr Nurul Huda Naeem, presented a presentation on ‘Health risks of noise pollution and what to do to control’ as the keynote speaker at the workshop.
Zonal settlement officer and joint secretary Mohammad Emran Hossain was present as a resource person at the workshop, which was presided over by Sylhet divisional office environment department director Md Ferdous Anwar.
Project manager of integrated and partnership project on noise pollution control, Md Fazle Elahi, delivered welcome speech, while project training and campaign consultant Gazi Mohibur Rahman presented power point presentation on various aspects of noise pollution at the workshop.
The maximum and minimum noise levels of the Sylhet divisional city and other districts were mentioned in the presented presentation, and based on which chairman of geography and environmental science department of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Anwar Hussain, and environment movement organiser Kashmir Reza participated in the discussion emphasising on how to reduce the level of noise pollution.
