A technical seminar on Green Ship Recycling and Waste Management was held at Bangladesh Marine Academy Sylhet.
The seminar was held at the conference room of Bangladesh Marine Academy, Sylhet, Badaghat, Sadar Upazila on Thursday.
VC of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Sarwar Uddin Chowdhury attend the seminar as a chief guest.
A technical research paper was presented by Marine Eng Md. Mahbubur Rahman, a prominent ship recycling expert.
Marine Eng Md. Humayun Kabir, Commandant of Marine Academy, Sylhet, participated in the discussion.
The speakers at the seminar said,
Since Bangladesh has played a pioneering role as the world’s leading marine ship recycling country. Awareness among stakeholders and experts and the Hong Kong Convention applicable to the ship recycling industry from 2026 were discussed. All stakeholders related to ship recycling are involved in this industry. The main goal of this discussion was to make experts and manpower aware. Moreover, the Hong Kong Convention, an international regulation related to ship recycling, is going to be implemented from June 2026, and the future preparation of this law was also discussed. Commandant of Marine Academy Sylhet, Marine Eng. Md. Humayun Kabir presented his research on garbage recycling.
