A seminar on Sustainable Agricultural Management to Achieve Food Security was held by the Agricultural Information Service Sylhet Regional Office.
The seminar was organized at the Chandipulsa Agricultural Information Service Sylhet Regional Office in South Surma Upazila on Sunday afternoon.
Dr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Additional Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Sylhet Region attend the seminar as a chief guest.
In his speech, he said that everyone should work for the development of the country by ensuring the proper use of resources. In the development of agriculture and farmers, technology should be used to meet the food needs of the country in the private sector as well as in the government sector. Farmers should be interested in producing new crops by ensuring the proper use of suitable technology.
He called on everyone to come forward to address the food shortage by utilizing the knowledge gained from the experience of the country’s farmers.
He said that in order to provide food to the population against the decreasing arable land and limited natural resources, it is necessary to ensure the best use and management of agricultural land. In this context, it is essential to formulate a sustainable agricultural development plan and apply suitable technology.
Dr. Md. Monir Hossain, Associate Professor of the Food Engineering and Technology Department of Shabiprobi, presented the main paper at the seminar chaired by Fahmida Akhter, Regional Radio Agriculture Officer of the Agricultural Information Service Regional Office, Sylhet.
Dr. Md. Monir Hossain, Chief Scientific Officer of the Regional Agricultural Research Center, Bari Akbarpur Moulvibazar, discussed the main paper. Mahmudul Islam Nazrul, Principal of Agricultural Training Institute Sylhet Dr. Kuhinur Begum.
At the beginning of the seminar, Chhatak Upazila Agriculture Officer Toufiq Hossain Khan recited from the Holy Quran.
Fahmida Akhter, Regional Radio Agriculture Officer of Agricultural Information Service Regional Office Sylhet, delivered the welcome speech.
At the end of the seminar, awards were given to the officers for providing the maximum number of subscribers to Krishikotha.
Officers from various departments related to agriculture participated in the day-long seminar.
