The Sylhet District Agriculture Department has set a target of planting Aman paddy on 1,45,310 hectares of land in the current Aman season, Kharip-2. So far, seedlings of early variety Aman paddy have been planted on 1,38,244 hectares of land in this district. This will continue until September 15. In the full season, farmers in every upazila of the district are now busy planting seedlings for Aman paddy cultivation.
Additional Deputy Director (PP) of the Sylhet District Agricultural Extension Department, Agronomist Mohammad Anisuzzaman said that the target of planting Aman paddy on 1,45,310 hectares of land has been set for Kharip-2 in the current Aman season in the district. There has been good rainfall in the current monsoon season. As a result, there is no possibility of any problem in the cultivation of Aman rice this time.
The Agriculture Department said that early variety Aman rice has been planted on about 1 lakh 38 thousand 244 hectares of land in the district from July 5 to Thursday.
Farmers have now started preparing for the cultivation of Aman rice in their land. Farmers have started the planting of early variety Aman rice in the district since the beginning of this July.
The Agriculture Department also said that all kinds of preparations have been completed to achieve the target of bumper Aman rice in the current Aman season.
For this, sufficient amount of fertilizer has been stored in advance in their warehouses through the BCIC and BADC fertilizer dealers of the district as per the demand of the farmers.
Urea, DAP, TSP and MOP fertilizers are supplied to the district as per the demand of chemical fertilizers through the BADC and BCIC registered dealers. There are 9 sub-dealers or retailers in each union, one in each ward under a BCIC dealer of the union. To ensure that farmers do not face any shortage of chemical fertilizers for their Aman cultivation, a free supply of fertilizers has been ensured in the market.
