Sylhet Bureau :
‘Sylhet DSA Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament’ is starting from Tuesday (May 6).
The tournament has been organized under the initiative and management of Sylhet District Sports Association (DSA).
DSA Convening Committee Member (1st) Advocate Emran Ahmed Chowdhury gave this information at a press conference at the Tipu Majumder Press Box of the Cricket Pavilion Building of Sylhet District Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
In a written statement, he said – On April 9 of this year, the National Sports Council formed a new convening committee of Sylhet District Sports Association (DSA). After assuming the responsibility, the current committee decided to gift a captivating game to the people of Sylhet. Accordingly, the ‘Sylhet DSA Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament’ is starting at the Sylhet District Stadium from Tuesday. 6 teams are participating in the tournament. The teams are – Padma Platoon, Meghna Super Giant, Jamuna Warriors, Kushiyara Super Kings, Surma Gladiators and Basia Titans. Sylhet cricketers representing the national cricket team and cricketers from the district and divisional cricket teams will play in this tournament. Players from the first and second cricket leagues will also play.
Ad. Emran Ahmed Chowdhury further said in his speech – the cricketers participating in the ‘Sylhet DSA Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament’ have been divided into three categories and teams have been formed through a lottery. So that each team is equally strong. Similarly, the coach, assistant coach and manager have been nominated through a lottery. The tournament will be held in a round robin league system. Each team will face each other. Two matches will be organized every day. The top two teams with the highest points in the round robin league will face each other in the final. If it is not possible to organize a match due to rain, the points will be divided between the two competing teams. Considering the rainy season, there will be a reserve day for the final match.
Apart from organizing this tournament, DSA will continue to work tirelessly to regularly provide various sports to the people of Sylhet and to promote the Sylhet sports arena – this is the expectation expressed by Advocate Emran Ahmed Chowdhury, a member of the organization’s convening committee, at the press conference.
