World Radio Day was celebrated in Sylhet city through various programs on Tuesday. This year’s theme of the day is ‘Wireless in spreading information, entertainment and education throughout the century.
On the occasion of the day, Bangladesh Betar Sylhet Center organized a discussion meeting at the center’s conference room in Sylhet Betar. Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Abu Ahmad Siddiqui NDC attends the programme as chief guest. He said this speech, Bangladesh Beta is a history and tradition. Radio played a significant role in the great liberation struggle. Recalling the role of wireless in the devastating cyclone of 1991, he said that the wireless message at that time saved many lives. With the passage of time today, wireless has faced many challenges to reach people. Regional Director of Sylhet Center, Abdullah Mohammad Tariq presided over the discussion meeting.
Betar anchor Nazma Parveen conducted the event. The program started with the welcome speech of Mohammad Kamal Hossain, Regional Engineer of Bangladesh Betar.
