Swimmer Samiul and Sonia to take part in Paris Olympics

Swimmer Samiul Islam and Sonia Akter will take part in the forthcoming Paris Olympics 2024. Samiul Islam and Sonia Akter received wild cards on Monday last from World Aquatics, the governing body of international swimming federation. Samiul Islam will compete in the 100metre freestyle, while Sonia Akter will participate in the 50metere freestyle.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Swimming Federation and Executive Member of Bangladesh Olympic Association MB Saif said to a local website, ” We received a mail from the World Aquatics last night.

In that mail it revealed that a male swimmer and a female swimmer from Bangladesh can take part in the swimming competition of Paris Olympics.

Earlier, We sent the names of two swimmers to World Aquatics who will represent our country in the ensuing Olympic Games.

The World Aquatics has approved the names of the two swimmers of Bangladesh. That means two swimmers from Bangladesh can compete in the Paris Olympics.

So, Samiul Islam and Sonia Akter from Bangladesh will compete in their respective events in the Paris Olympics.”
Meanwhile, sprinter Imranur Rahman of Bangladesh received a wild card from International Athletics Federation.

Imranur Rahman, who is an expatriate of Bangladesh got the wild card on Monday last.

Imranur Rahman, the Fastest Man of the Country will compete in the 100metre sprint in the Paris Olympics 2024. Bangladesh Athletics Federation confirmed that matter on Monday last.

The Paris Olympics will start on July 26. Earlier, shooter Robiul Islam received wild card as he can participate in the 10metere Air Rifle event of Paris Olympics 2024.

It may be mentioned that archer Sagor Islam of Bangladesh will directly compete in the Paris Olympics.

Archer Sagor Islam made history by becoming the country’s second archer and third athlete overall to earn direct qualification for the Olympic Games.
