SUST receives Tk 205cr budget allocation

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) received an allocation of Tk 205 crore for the 2025-25 fiscal year. A budget of Tk 205 crore has been allocated for the 2025-26 fiscal year. Tk 10 crore 23 lakh has been allocated for the research and innovation sector.
Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Ismail Hossain announced the budget at a press conference with journalists at the university’s administrative building on Thursday (July 3) afternoon.
University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. M. Sarwaruddin Chowdhury, Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Sajedul Karim, professors and heads of departments of various departments were present at the time.
The Treasurer said that out of the total budget of Tk 205 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal year, total salary support including special benefits is Tk 71 crore, salary and allowances are Tk 111 crore 90 lakh, total product and service support is Tk 45 crore 35 lakh, pension sector is Tk 15 crore, information and communication technology sector is Tk 20 crore, primary health care support is Tk 20 crore, and equipment grants are Tk 9 crore 18 lakh.
This year, Tk 10 crore 23 lakh has been allocated to emphasize science, technology, innovation and research. This year, the budget has been increased by Tk 79 lakh compared to last year. In the 2025-26 fiscal year, 82 million taka has been allocated for teachers in research, 150 million taka for PhD in research, 50 million taka for Masters program, 67 million taka for scholarships and 3 lakh taka for innovation work.
At this time, Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Sajedul Karim said, “Our budget has increased this time compared to the past. We will try our best to properly utilize every taka of this budget in the university’s education, research and various sectors. The current administration is working relentlessly to modernize and make this university world-class.”
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Sarwaruddin Chowdhury said, “Research is being given importance to advance Shabiprabi in science and technology. Our goal is to produce quality researchers of international standards. Currently, many development projects are underway in the university. Once these are completed, the various contemporary crises we face will be resolved.”
