The Shahjalal University Press Club, the association of journalists at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), elected its 20th executive committee on Thursday.
Jubiadul Haque Robin, SUST correspondent of Daily Jugantor and Naeem Ahmed Shuvo, correspondent of Daily Manabzamin, were elected as president and secretary, respectively.
The Elections were held at the press club office from 11am to 12.30pm on Thursday. The chief election commissioner of the university’s press club Professor Dr Engineer Mohammad Iqbal of the Industrial and Production Engineering Department. He announced the results at 3pm.
Election Commissioner Professor Dr Md Saiful Islam, Professor Dr Md Abdul Hamid also present there.
The other elected members of the committee are – Vice-President Adnan Ridoy (Daily Odhikar), Joint secretary Abdur Rahim Kabir (Daily Jaintabarta), Treasurer Sagor Hasan Shuvro (Daily Ittefaq) and Office Secretary Nur Alam (BDNews24.com).
Shaikat Mahabub (Daily Jaijaidin), Md Mufajjal Haque (Daily Sylhet Bani) and Sagor Hosen Jahid (Daily Jagrata Sylhet) have been elected as executive members.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr AM Sarwarufdin Choudhury, Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Sajedul Karim, student adviser, proctor, head of the departments, general members of the press club and members of various law enforcement agencies were present.
After the announcement of the results, the newly elected committee leaders were congratulated by the University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr AM Sarwarufdin Choudhury, Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Sajedul Karim, Student Adviser, Proctor. Besides, various political and cultural organisations, teachers, officials and employees of the university congratulated the newly formed committee.
