After the liberation war, the movie ‘Roktakto Bangla’ directed by Momtaz Ali was released. Indian hero Biswajit acted in this movie.
Biswajit is father of Kolkata’s popular hero Prosenjit. Dhalwood legendary actress Sultana Zaman played the role of Biswajit’s younger sister in the movie.
A song between two siblings is still loved and known by the audience. The song was ‘O Dada Bhai Murti Banao’. The song written and composed by Salil Chowdhury and sung by Lata Mangeshkar is still heard occasionally by the audience.
That Sultana sometimes lives in Atlanta of USA and sometimes in Bangladesh.
Sultana is currently in the country. She is now with her family in Mohammadpur of the capital.
Knowing that Sulatan is in the country, her co-star in many movies, noted film actress Dilara Yasmin, has already gone to meet her.
Dilara was overwhelmed with emotion after seeing Sultana after a long time.
The two did not realise when a few hours had passed while talking.
While talking in this regard, Sultana told this correspondent, “It was very nice to see Dilara after a long time. We didn’t get the few hours that passed in the story together. I had a wonderful relationship with Dilara from the beginning. Dilara came to film industry after me. Even she is my junior. But she respects me very much.
I thank her for coming to me in time. I had a good time with her. We were lost for a while in memories of lost days.”
Actress Dilara Yasmin shared her feelings by this way, “I have had the good fortune to work together with Sultana Apa. She is a kind hearted person. She still smiles so sweetly, caressing and loving me so much – I find a different kind of peace in my mind. Sultana Apa is the legend of our film history.
Our film history is enriched with artistes like them. We cannot respect these talented artistes. That’s the pain. Sultana Apa is an independent artiste. I have seen very few artistes like her in my artistic life. May Allah keep him healthy and well.”
Actress Sultana Zaman said her father named her Chand Sultana out of love. She is the first child of her father. She came into this world as the first child to light up her father’s house, so her father lovingly named her Chand Sultana. Sultana was hailed from Pabna.
Dilara acted with Sultana in several other movies including ‘Saat Bhai Champa’, ‘Roshiya Bandhu’, and ‘Shotiputro Abdullah’.
Notable movies starring Sultana are – ‘Nabab Sirajudaula’, ‘Dak Babu’, ‘Chokori’, ‘Ankabanka’, ‘Binimoy’, ‘Somadhan’, ‘Beiman’, ‘Sareng Bou’, ‘Pagla Raza’, ‘Modhumita’, ‘The Father’, ‘Naat Bou’ etc. She last acted in movie ‘Dilto Pagol’. Shabnur and Ferdous acted in it.
On the other hand, Dilara Yasmin acted for the first time in Amzad Hossain’s ‘Sundori’ movie. After that she acted in several other movies including ‘Shesh Uttar’, ‘Ekhoni Somoy’, ‘Nazma’, ‘Kalo Golap’, ‘Somor’, ‘Awlad’, ‘Nadira’, and ‘Rajbhikhari’.
