A group of leftist students held a protest march in Dhaka on Tuesday, demanding the resignation of Home Adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

Protesters also called for the formation of a speedy trial tribunal to ensure justice for all rape victims, including a recent case in Magura.

The march started around 2:30 pm from the Raju Sculpture at Dhaka University.
However, when protesters reached near Intercontinental intersection, police intervened, leading to a clash between law enforcers and protesters.

Several students, including Meghmallar Basu, president of a faction of Dhaka University’s Chhatra Union, and other leftist student leaders, were injured.

Police also suffered injuries, with at least two officers reportedly beaten and one’s uniform torn in the scuffle.

Mojammel Haque, organisational secretary of a faction of Socialist Students’ Front at Dhaka University, said they were protesting the continued lawlessness in the country and demanding justice for rape victims through special tribunals
