Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina assured the Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College of getting five new buses for students’ transportation. An underpass will also be constructed for their safety.
Besides, speed breakers will be constructed on the roads in front of all schools and special traffic police will be appointed for students, the Prime Minister added.
Earlier on Thursday, the family members of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College’s students, who were killed by a bus on Airport Road, met the Prime Minister in her office.
It was a heart-rending scene. The PM listened closely and consoled the bereaved families, said PM’s Press Secretary
Ihsanul Karim after the meeting.
Several immediate steps have been taken based on the demands of students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has donated Tk 20 lakh as donations to each family, he added.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, PM’s Principle Secretary, Education Secretary, PMO Secretary and PM’s Press Secretary were also present on the occasion.
On July 29, two students- Abdul Karim, 16, and Diya, 15, of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College were killed when a speedy bus rammed them on Airport Road of the capital city.
The incident triggered mass protest among students and they have been continuing the demonstration in demand of safe roads and justice.
